26th March 2026 – Three members of Firefly Robotics Educational Charity held a STEM workshop with year 5 & 6 students at Bratton Fleming Community Primary School. In today’s 1.5 hour session we discussed the key elements of STEM and explored the importance of science and technology in our daily lives. We then went onto develop students own programs to move the Edison robot in linear and rotational movements. Once the students understood the concepts of EdScratch programming, downloading and testing we were able to move onto geometric shape development by attaching pens to the Edison robot and creating images on A4 sheets of paper. Programming involved understanding the concepts of measurement, angles and incorporated developing loops into their final program design.
